1542 In The Park - Renaissance Faire Visitor Information
St. Giles' Guild is a non-profit association dedicated to the presentation of faires with the history and flavor of Renaissance England. We will be presenting the pomp and spectacle of a 16th century battle complete with cannon and matchlock. King Henry will be presiding over a Border war. Participation by costumed actors from various Renaissance guilds will add to the feeling of authenticity. King Henry's court, English and Scots nobility, merchants, peasants and soldiers will be present to re-enact the events of the times. In addition to enjoying live stage performances and mock battles, the fairgoer will have a cornucopia of food, crafts, jewelry and period attire available for purchase.
The presentation of this historical era in an enjoyable, educational and safe environment makes it a sure bet for family entertainment. Transport yourself to England in 1542 and gaze in wonder at the sights and sounds.
Faire Overview: The faire will open each day with Henry
VIII sending his troops to Scotland to retaliate against their border raids.
A border war will be re-enacted in the open area between the
English and Scots camps. Henry, Catherine Parr and the English court
will then have a public banquet to celebrate the victory. The afternoon
stage performances will address the Christmas amnesty and release of the
prisoners and the subsequent Advent celebration in London.
Host: St. Giles' Guild and a host of dedicated volunteers.
